hi all,

we recently picked up some 2948g-ge-tx switches on the cheap - and they are CatOS instead of iOS.

I tried to set up portfast because lots of users are having issues where they log into windows too soon and haven't been granted network access yet due to spanning tree (I'm assuming). But I don't seem to have done it correctly.

Does anyone know the proper way to configure CatOS so that devices are granted immediate network access?

Thanks!

-Wes

Guess you know why you got them on the cheap now.

Can't you flash to iOS?

This might help.

Looks like these were end of life-d 3 years ago. You might be better off selling on eBay and getting something that's more main stream and supported.

Thanks guys. Ugh.

Have tried enabling portfast, still problematic if users log in too soon after boot. Ran set spantree disable all to completely do away with STP and they still have the problem... Any idea why that might be?

The common solution for that is to turn on the policy 'Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon'

Was finally able to get it to work by doing a "set port host" on all ports... No more delay
