Hi!
I would like to ask for a help. Namely, I am reading Mark's book for server 2003, and would like to ask about unattended installation. In the book Mark explains how to make unattended installation and also remote installation, but he presumes that the PC has an floppy drive. In my organization our PCs don't have floppies. So my question is: is it possible to boot the PC from a usb drive so you can make the installation from remote network drive and how? In other words to make "system usb".

MS have a tool that converts a Vista/ W7 ISO into a bootable USB. Not sure if it works on 2003/ XP, but I'd work on the newer stuff to be honest.

Hi! Once again...
I try to make the unattended installation with USB. I copied the winnt.sif file, which by the way I created through the setup manager from the setup cd, onto the usb drive and started the setup with the system cd. But the installation goes on without finding the winnt.sif file. I can not understand what is the problem.

It looks like you really need a floppy disk to boot from.

Ebay or the local office supply company should be able to supply one for 10 to 15 Euros.

Hi,

I followed this procedure to make a Windows 8 bootable USB device, but you can copy any installation files onto the USB once you've made it bootable; http://redmondmag.com/articles/2011/12/02/making-a-usb-flash-drive-bootable.aspx

Matt.

Failure is an indispensable prerequisite of success. It is how you learn the lessons you need.
