Ever since I've started using Workstation 7.1.5, I notice that I'm not able to disconnect a USB key from the (physical) host and connect it to a guest.

I no longer even see the little squarish gray icon in the lower right hand corner, along with the other VMware guest icons that would allow me to do this.

Yes, VMware Tools are installed.

I've found that I can copy and paste files quite nicely to and from the virtual guests so I'm still able to function.

But I'd like to be able to practice various types of backup to an external USB drive - which no longer seems possible.

I'can't imagine that functionality would be dropped?

It's USB 3.0.

I have (2) USB 3.0 ports on my laptop.

If I plug the flash drive into the sole USB 2.0 port (in back), the USB removable media is accessible in the guest.
