If I open a file, excel, word etc from the library, I have the option to edit, save as etc.
If I open a file by searching, I cannot edit and save.
Is this normal?
Also,
We have a lot of logs in the following location c:\windows\system32\logfiles\W3SVC1********
about 8GB of log files. Can I move/ delete these. They look like IE log files or what browser touched the sharepoint site(s), whether it was a get, post or find.

After everything that has happened during the month of Jan 07, I do believe that pigs fly backwards!
Joe, With the search you should be able to click on the document to open it, or right click it and save it. It won't work the same as if you are viewing it in the library because its a search. As far as the log files there is a setting in SP Central Admin that will let you limit the logging to a timespan. The log files can get unruley quickly if you don't limit them. The logs are more for diagnostics, you can also turn on auditing in SP thats logged in the SQL database if you want to know for instance who deleted a document.
FYI, I'm not a sharepoint guy, but I have a resource that I am pinging for you.
