Woo hoo... everyone's talking about the "massive" Virginia earthquake. To me it just sounded like a truck had bounced loudly over a speed bump.
But... we stayed up!<g>
Can't say we will this weekend, though. Current track looks very very bad, passing directly over the house at 110 MPH. Still a few days left, so we'll see.

| Our entire building was evacuated under 3 mins ;) That is about 400 people walking 6 floors down the stairs. Firedrills a few month back came handy today. |

I thought that a herd of buffalo where dancing on my roof. Strange noise but the movement was not what I had experienced in earthquakes before, (california, japan and Washington state) Rich |

Well, it was a big shake. I can see that. The novelty of it is what makes it so remarkable, but if you get a direct hit by a Catogory four storm you will be affected by it for months. And those storms spawn tornadoes too. The storm surge is also no joke and for low lying areas like Marks there is a good possibility of some flooding.

| Nah, Curt, it's less than that. The main hassle is that Virginia Power takes forever to restore electricity to my rural area, and the Internet can't come back until the cable company has power. What makes it worse is that apparently the power lines are held together with scotch tape, and a 20 MPH wind seems sufficient to knock out the power -- some very fragile infrastructure here. |

Mark, I think that they actually canned the use of scotch tape and have moved to the Walmart brand in an effort to meet new budget constraints. The economy and all...
Seriously though, I hope the storm simply goes out to sea and leaves us all alone. Florida was getting a bit scared with this one but it looks like she is going to pass by us. |

| Oh, don't worry, Dave, I'm sure the hurricane season's got another seven weeks to harry us with... we'll all get some thrills 'n' chills before November comes. |

Me thinks that there are some changes coming up that will be faster than the weather.
We should worry about those things.
