I recently created a new GPO called "Win7 Settings - New" to replace an older policy called "Workstations Settings". I have two computers that are in the same OU. When I run "group policy result" from the GPMC, all the settings from the new GPO are applied correctly on one computer. On the second computer I see settings from the older "Workstations Settings" policy. Also, the "winning GPO" resolves as the SID of the old "Workstations Settings" policy (which is no longer in scope).

I have tried rebooting & running GPUpdate /force. Also, I have looked through gpsvc.log but have not found anything referring to the "Workstations Settings" policy. I have run Group Policy Results from several servers against my workstation and they all report the same findings.

Domain controllers are 2003 server. No firewall enabled. Two sites but both sites have computers that aren't processing GPO's correctly. There are some policies that work, some that don't.

I'm not sure what other information would be helpful. Any help is appreciated.

Edit: GPresult /h shows the correct winning Policies but the "winning GPO" for some settings is the SID for the policy no longer in scope. I don't understand why this would happen.

One more detail: I am getting a Group Policy error in the System log during startup: "The processing of group policy failed due to a lack of network connectivity to a domain controller." After I log on, I can run GPUpdate /force and see a success audit for GroupPolicy in the system log.
