I'm asked to look for a tool which can monitor, measure and analyze the performance in a VDI environment. I was wondering If someone here has good experience with such a tool? Ideally the tool supports both Citrix and VMware VDI product range.

Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get.

For benchmarking you can use http://www.loginvsi.com/. For ongoing performance monitoring you need to be more specific what you want to monitor. Application responsiveness? Disk R/W latency?

For Citrix xenApp/xenDesktop, there's hardly anything better than EdgeSight.

I can't be more specific, we want to monitor the total end-user performance (Disk, Application Response, Processor, Memory). Benchmarking is not what I'm looking for, I'm looking for tooling which is capable of performance analysis in VDI environments. The environment is already in production.
We need to do ongoing monitoring and analysis. I need to compare the tooling for VDI performance analysis (like VMware Operations Manager) and deliver a report of the pro's and con's of each tool to the management. The coming week I will try to gather more requirements for the tool.

I don't know of a tool that covers both VMware and Citrix in the level you want to monitor it, but for Citrix (as Evgenij wrote) EdgeSight has no equal in this.
Next, VEEAM and PHDVirtual have toolsthat covers a lot of performance monitoring, don't know of the level in which it does though... maybe anyone else has experience with it?

Greetsz,
Jeff.
