Hello all, I have a client that is having a permissions error. He could rdp into the terminal services server with an administrative user but could not get to the sysvol directory or any directory below it (it came up with a permissions error). He ran cacls.exe and this fixed the error, BUT now the global policy editor says permissions are not lined up with AD say if we say to sync it, then it goes back to the original problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kelly W.

Kelly, welcome to the Forum.
Which server did cacls get run on, against the share visible on the TS or on the DC itself?

Hello, These are one in the same. They only have one file server and it is both a TS and a DC. Thanks, Kelly W. |

Hello, Let me also explain. The TS is just for administrative purposes. It is not for any of the users except for the IT person. Thanks, Kelly W. |

Hello, Let me ask this question. What should the correct rights be for the sysvol and all subdirectories? Thanks, Kelly W. |

How many users in the domain?
Did he take a backup before he ran cacls against a DC?
Any change you have a system state backup?
Does this address the error - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828760

Hello, Roughly about 50 users. Yes I far as I know. No change from the system state backup that I know of. Thanks, Kelly W. |

Kelly,
Are there any errors showing in the Event logs, for AD, AD replication etc?
Generally it is not advised to change the permissions on a DC Sysvol as they can cause other issue. |

Hello all, This was kind of a stupid on my part for not checking. The administrative user was not part of the Remote Desktop group. Sorry for the hassle. Thanks, Kelly W. |
