A couple months ago I heard Ron Bowman speak and that kindled my interest in this. This wasn't the conference but he talked about the same things (cost, location, etc.):
That's the whole idea with Azure; it's a modified version of the Windows kernel built for the cloud. They've done similar stuff with SQL and are working on a cloud-ified AD.
And Iceland is an AMAZING place. Not to be missed in this lifetime.
