Registration opened tonight/today. Hotel rooms disappearing fast. Was aiming for the Westin but ended up in the Hyatt.

Who's going?

Bad news. Because our company has to respond to the changing economical climate, they decided to cut some costs. As a result I will be not able to travel to the MVP Summit. Not with a direct flight that is, they made us fly with a stop in Frankfurt.

How about that huh? Recession means that I have to wait a couple of hours on an airport, and still my two fellow MVPs and I can go to the Summit! Thanks employer! (www.pqr.nl)

99% I won't be able to make it this year. I have pre-registered, but I haven't book the hotel or flight yet. Yes, it boils down to finances this year.

Well, budget is the least of the issues. We have UPS replacement going on around the same time at our data center. I need to be around.

I'll see you guys next time (I hope)! :)

I worry about budget too, but when you consider all you learn (If you pay attention), the networking. Microsoft picking up at least half the cost of the room.
Most of the food is provided (and when it isn't most of us could use less food anyway) and they have "Party beverages" at the dinners etc. It's really the most inexpensive conference next to the Minasi Summit.

For a long time I took my own vacation time to go so no one at the company could say anything. We know that interoffice issues come up with folks being petty.

each of these things moves our tech life in a new direction.

Last year we saw Win7. So we were very ready for new OS. And MSFT knew that if the MVPs found something we did not like we were going to say something about it.

Lot's of folks think the MVPs are cool aid drinkers.

It's just not so.........

You could spend your time on lots of other technologies.

We use MSFT tech to make a living and it it causes us problems, this "Hailing Frequency" of the MVPs and Microsoft is there to get a "Professional" message to them.

They respect that.

NICK commented to Steve B at the Summit last year.
So did Nathan.

Curt, I totally share with your view.

Just like me. I spend a lot of money to fly to the US and give up my spring festival holiday. The motivation makes me doing the decision is to enjoy the lastest MSFT techs in the Redmond and meet my friends in the same field.

The schedule of the product group keeps you pretty busy and it's hard to get together with other people.

Travelling for nearly 24 hours. Am checked into the hotel in Belleview now. Room service, then sleep. Was too cold on the US Airways flight from Chicago to get sleep.

That's a nice short trip Eric. I'm totally jealous! After 4 hours sleep, and 4 hours of "tv" on the laptop, I think it's time to wash up and figure out what to do with myself for the day.

That's OK...this makes up for the all day / 3 flight evolution that is the Minasi Forum Meeting. Going from one coast to the other is a total waste of a day...

Hope you make it there in time. If you are delayed, don't sweat it. Could be a good reason.

You get there tell Aidan thank you for me. He has been a huge help to me recently.
