I have to note that the error code does not match the description from the Microsoft website.
But, once I join it to the domain, the workstation activates immediately by itself. Now it begs the question, MUST I join every workstation to the domain in order to activate them? We have about 1200 workstations spread over 30 different locations and only 200 of them in the domain (local politics). Can somebody suggest me a workaround please?
OS:Vista SP1 Workstations sysprep-ed Using KMS server on server 2003 Upgrading from XP (did not test with custom-clean upgrade)
That is the first place i checked for the error. That is why i noted that the error does not match the description on MS website.

Error code 0xC004F069 Symptom When you try to use a KMS client to activate one or more computers, you may receive the following error message: 0xC004F069 The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated. The Key Management Service (KMS) determined that the request timestamp is invalid.
The above problem happens in 45-50 % of the time. Some of the workstations do not require joining to the domain. Since I am using KMS server at the site, I am not using any keys when upgrading the workstations as per MS papers. I am upgrading using Vista Business with SP1 disk, but we were provided with the KMS host key an year ago, back then there was not SP1. Could it be the problem ?
