The Finished Product

At this point (July 1998 -- I was going to write "July '98" but then this web page wouldn't be Y2K compliant) the house does everything it was originally designed to do. We're going to fiddle with it a bit more, but nothing major's left to do save to find the right furniture for my office and the decks.

As I got some grumbling via e-mail from some people wanting to see the finished product, I'm working on this page. It isn't done yet, but here's some of the final views.

The dining room table from the Arlington house worked great at the beach

This page's pictures come from a new camera, an Agfa Ephoto 1280. I've purchased five digital cameras over the past four years and this one is the best, hands down. Good optics, nearly trouble-free autofocus, excellent white balance, flexible menus, highly recommended.

This isn't just a people beach house. There's a beach house adjoining for mutts as well.

That's Debby on the left and Vicky on the right. They'd just been swimming so they're kind of tired out. Vicky gets stressed by cameras for some reason. Their seaside canine cabana is behind them.

The entrance is now of course clear of construction stuff and worked out fine:

The living room also looks much better with furniture in it, as you can see (complete with recumbent occupant).

The odd-looking thing on the left is an tripod for a large telescope. Note the TV over the fireplace; that's the 35" tube I used to have in Arlington. The 35 inches isn't the relevant part, however -- the 206 pounds that it weighs is. Kaz and Woody, two Men Among Men, graciously wrestled it up the stairs without a scratch

We got the guest rooms furnished, here's one.

100 megabit Ethernet, two phone lines, and cable TV in every bedroom. Talk about accommodations! (There's also a bed, dresser, night tables, and those kinds of things.)

The outside's getting better looking as well.

Didn't notice the difference? There's green around it. We've got a sprinkler system in and have got a type of beach grass growing as well as a bit of landscaping as well. The difference is even more striking from the front.

The view out the back yard remains is just the same old thing...

These beaches are so crowded...

Check back in mid to late August, I hope to do some more work with this page and start a page on the wildlife around here.
